How to Stop on a Snakeboard Streetboard

How to Stop on a Streetboard Tutorial

Now that you've learnt how to move on a Streetboard, the next important step is to learn how to stop.  Stopping on a Streetboard will be dependent on your level of riding, and whether you are riding with bindings or not.  Here we are going to take you through and describe to you step by step for the easiest way to stop if you are just starting streetboarding.

Method One: Relax

  1. The first method is simple, if you relax and stop moving your arms and legs your Streetboard will come to a natural stop.  This will work if you are on the flat and going at lower speed.
  2. One key point to remember is that when dismounting your board try and dismount your front foot first. if you are riding with toe hooks  This will help you control the board batter and less likely to end up in the splits.

Method Two: Carve it Out

  1. For this method you are going to want to make sure you have plenty of space in front of you to sweep across the side walk.
  2. Lower your centre of gravity slightly by bending your knees.
  3. As you do so point the your toes together so that your Dragan Board plates turn inwards ever so slightly
  4. Don't worry about your arms, as the combined movements of your knees and your toes should swing you into a tight circle and you want to have less upper body momentum to bring your speed down.
  5. You then want to put your weight into your heels and open your toes, this will mean you perform a faster frontside carve.
  6. You can then repeat the backside and frontside carves until you come to a complete stop.

And that's it, that's how to stop on a streetboard!
